Road cycling in Cyprus is superb and an experience not to be missed. The well-surfaced roads are very quiet and despite the rural landscape, there are tavernas and small shops. The riding is some of the hilliest in Europe with a multitude of long steady climbs particularly as you go inland. If you ascend all the way to Mount Olympus at 2000m prepare for significant temperature changes. In the winter months, it can regularly be 20 degrees on the coast and 0 degrees at the summit.
